Brooklyn Adult Rock
RCRDLBL
Brooklyn has been dominating the national music conversation for years, but one usually pictures its scene as full of sweaty lofts, (maybe a little too) forward-thinking fashions and experimentation with form and sonics. That's not the whole story, though. Brooklyn acts like The National have been ushering-in a poised version of indie rock for years now. Call it Brooklyn Adult Rock – emotionally deep, obsessed with mature relationships, painstakingly composed and unwilling to hide obvious chops behind walls of reverb. This week's VEVO playlist uses The National's Dessner brothers as a centerpiece in both their dayjob band, as well as backers of Sharon Van Etten with members Wye Oak and The Walkmen.
