Mario, born Mario Dewar Barrett, is an American R&B singer, dancer, and actor. Mario was discovered by producer Troy Patterson at a school talent show and by 2002 released his first album titled Mario. The album was a success with the single, ‘Just A Friend’, reaching #1 on the charts. His next album, Turning Point, would be a huge success selling platinum and hitting #1 for nine consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Producers Scott Storch and Lil Jon were involved in the production of the album as well as Ne-yo who wrote the most popular single on the album, ‘Let Me Love You’. His next two albums, Go and D.N.A., were released in 2007 and 2009. The songs ‘Break Up’ and ‘Thinkin' About You’ from the album D.N.A. both did extremely well on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. In addition to his career in music, Mario has also been involved in several films including the dance movie ‘Step Up’ alongside Channing Tatum and ‘Freedom Writers’ with Patrick Dempsey and Hilary Swank. He has also appeared on the hit TV show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2008 along side professional dancer Karina Smirnoff. Mario continues to produce music and work on his fifth album which is expected to be released sometime in 2015.
