In 1994, the group Kara's Flowers was formed and ready to hit the top of the charts. The band's quick failure eventually gave birth to Maroon 5 (2001), an American pop/rock band out of Los Angeles, California. Current band members include Adam Levine (lead Vocals, Guitar), Mickey Madden (bass), PJ Morton (keyboards), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), James Valentine (lead guitar) and Matt Flynn (drums). In 2002, the band signed with Octone Records and headed to the studio to record its debut album. Songs About Jane was an enormous success, debuting at #6 on the Billboard Hot 200 Albums Chart and spawning two top 5 singles, "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved". The songs were big hits oversees as well, giving the band enough exposure to win the 2005 Grammy Award for Best New Group. After five long years of touring and studio work, the band finally released its follow-up album It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which climbed all the way to #1 on the Hot 200 Chart. The album's top single "Makes Me Wonder", became Maroon 5's first #1 single. The band's next two albums, "Hands All Over" (2010) and "Overexposed" (2012), would both top out at #2 on the Billboards Hot 200 Albums Chart. The two albums were responsible for a #1 hit each with "Moves Like Jagger" coming from the former and "One More Night" coming from the latter. In August 2014, they released V, which headed straight to #1, confirming the band's elite position in the music industry. The band has won American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and a total of three Grammy Awards. Lead singer Levine also landed a job as one of the coaching fixtures on the hit singing competition The Voice, where he has coached over 6 seasons.
