DNCE doesn’t fool around. Their motto is “Your New Favorite Band,” and they called their first string of gigs “The Greatest Tour Ever, Tour.” The Cali quartet always backs up that kind of playful bravado, weaving elements of pop, electro, and R&B together until something crazy happens. Joe Jonas, the group’s singer, had been dreaming of this project for years, and set about making it a reality soon after the Jonas Brothers called it quits in 2013. The DNCE squad has a lot of experience to draw on. Guitarist JinJoo toured with Charli XCX and CeeLo Green, bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle was a member of Semi Precious Weapons, and drummer Jack Lawless worked on the road with Team Jonas. But these pros also excel at bringing the fun: “We really want this to feel like a party,” Jonas says. Need proof? Check the video for “Cake By the Ocean.” We want you guys to see DNCE in action – that’s the best way to fall for ‘em. That’s why we’re presenting our new LIFT artist at Holocene in Portland, Oregon on March 13, and filming it all so we can bring it to you later. For now, check DNCE’s videos, and their fantastic EP, SWAAY. We’ll have more stuff for you soon.
At a recent Troye Sivan show in New York, you could barely hear the star on stage because fans were singing along so loudly. Their voices were filled with passion – the sound of something truly meaningful being shared between artist and audience. Troye’s music creates those kind of feelings. It’s candid, poetic and radically catchy. An actor who’s had a role in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and other features, he’s probably better known as a singer who made a big mark on YouTube and started to put out irresistible EPS, including ‘TRXYE’ and ‘Wild.’ We fell hard for Troye’s music in 2015. Especially his videos. His ‘Blue Neighbourhood Trilogy,’ about the rigors of growing up, developing a sexual identity and making a place in the world, is gripping. Vevo recently hosted a premiere of the entire work at LA’s Hollywood Forever cemetery, and fans couldn’t have been more thrilled. When it came time for Troye to shoot his LIFT profiles, we had a blast. He tasted the ultimate mac ‘n’ cheese dish, got his nails artfully detailed, and wrestled with fans in a sumo suit. Nothing but fun. Celebrate the arrival of his ‘Blue Neighborhood’ album by checking out all of our pieces, and get prepared for some intimate performances, too.

Vevo’s LIFT program began in January of 2011 as a way of celebrating new talent. We pride ourselves on introducing emerging artists to a broader audience, and each LIFT cycle paints a detailed portrait so viewers get a grip on the artist’s creativity. Through exclusive interviews, behind-the scenes footage, video premieres, and great performances - all exclusive to the Vevo platform – we unite the artist and the audience. LIFT is powered by McDonald’s!
