It’s no surprise that American Authors’ breakout song, “Best Day Of My Life,” has connected so strongly with listeners – everyone’s looking for a little unbridled optimism. The quartet’s backstory is interesting. Four students from Florida, Texas, New Jersey, and Minnesota meet at Boston’s Berklee College of Music in 2006 and quickly find common ground. A few years later they drop out and move to Brooklyn to get serious about their careers. That’s when the magic starts to happen. The guys draw on diverse influences -- “we use EDM, hip-hop, Irish folk songs,” says singer Zac Barrett. “We add our own flavor. We like everything from Motown to The 1975.” They’re as skilled with synths and drum machines as banjos and a stand-up bass. Consider them musical storytellers with a lot of chapters in their book. The band’s debut, Oh What A Life, has just arrived, and they’ll be a hard act to follow when they hit the road with OneRepublic this summer. We have a feeling our new LIFT artist’s best days are just ahead of them.

Vevo’s LIFT program began in January of 2011 as a way of celebrating new talent. We pride ourselves on introducing emerging artists to a broader audience, and each LIFT cycle paints a detailed portrait so viewers get a grip on the artist’s creativity. Through exclusive interviews, behind-the scenes footage, video premieres, and great performances - all exclusive to the Vevo platform – we unite the artist and the audience.
