Talk about moving fast. Keyboardist Olly Alexander, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy and synth player Emre Turkmen have covered lots of ground and earned mucho acclaim in the last couple years. The Years & Years buzz started with the fetching sound of 2012’s “I Wish I Knew.” Then came the ghostly lament of “Traps” with Alexander’s voice floating through a track that morphed from bittersweet to exclamatory. That’s a key Y&Y trait – the guys have several ways expressing themselves. Their electropop may have great beats in its pocket, but it puts a big emphasis on the last syllable; it’s REALLY easy to fall for ‘em. Just turn up “Desire” or “King” and you’ll be agreeing with the BBC; it gave Y&Y its prestigious ‘Sound Of…” award at the start of 2015 (previous recipients include Sam Smith, Jessie J and Ellie Goulding). Told you – moving fast. Our LIFT interviews and performances will bring you into the middle of the band’s world. It’s time to get the Years & Years story.

Vevo’s LIFT program began in January of 2011 as a way of celebrating new talent. We pride ourselves on introducing emerging artists to a broader audience, and each LIFT cycle paints a detailed portrait so viewers get a grip on the artist’s creativity. Through exclusive interviews, behind-the scenes footage, video premieres, and great performances - all exclusive to the Vevo platform – we unite the artist and the audience. LIFT is powered by McDonald’s!
