When an artist's video is watched by fans over 100 million times, it deserves a celebration. VEVO kicked off the summer of 2012 with the introduction of CERTIFIED, a program that honors this awesome milestone. The first stars in the spotlight made it a massive success: Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, and LMFAO helped us salute their fans' dedication while revealing the creative vision it takes to achieve such numbers.
Now CERTIFIED's second installment is here. VEVO proudly closes 2012 with exclusive tributes to Taylor Swift (10/29), Britney Spears (11/26), and Alicia Keys (12/10). Each features profiles of the artists receiving their awards, as well as original interviews about their video shoots and their relationship to fans. Taylor's "You Belong With Me" (196MM) and "Love Story" (100MM) start things off next Monday. Britney's CERTIFIED titles include "I Wanna Go" (111 MM) and "Till The World Ends" (104MM). Alicia's CERTIFIED video is "No One" (129MM). Those
are the kind of stats that helped us describe the program as “The biggest
artists in the word, the most watched videos of all time, certified by you!”
In our candid chats, Taylor Swift tells VEVO she wanted "You Belong With Me" to be both "funny and heartwarming," and explains how she came up with the video's "kinda scary, alter-ego" character. She also takes time to thank all the "Swifties" that have followed her career from its start. "It's an amazing feeling knowing there's this group of people that always has my back." The singer's new Red album, featuring "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Begin Again" was released, Monday October 22.
VEVO invited fans to actively participate in the CERTIFIED process. Each new tribute features the artist receiving the awards from dedicated audience members, as well as fan testimony regarding the artist's music and career.
Over 40 artists, including Lady Gaga, Pitbull and Rihanna, have made CERTIFIED videos.
VEVO’s video view counts represent the only definitive and
official metric across all digital platforms because of its far-reaching scale
and reach, which includes online, mobile and tablet, connected devices and
syndication partner sites like AOL, Facebook, Yahoo! Music and YouTube. Videos
“CERTIFIED” by VEVO have achieved a similar milestone to that of the RIAA’s
