It takes some guts for a young band of guys to dress up as female superstars and lampoon iconic music videos, so hats off to Rixton – the Brit newcomers certainly aren’t lacking a sense of humor. They’re not lacking skills, either. “Make Out” is one of the catchiest pop tracks in recent memory, and its video – with Danny as Rihanna, Charley as Lady Gaga, Lewi as Katy Perry and Jake as Miley Cyrus – is nothing short of awesome. The Manchester foursome have caught on quickly. It was only a few years ago that Jake and Danny connected and started writing songs together. Last year, they met their mates and chemistry was right. In a flash they were cutting their teeth on covers; versions of everything from Taylor Swift’s “Trouble” to R. Kelly’s “Ignition” became part of a series of wildly popular videos that Rixton put on YouTube. But they have their own songs, too. Their new EP is filled with the good stuff, especially the title track, “Me And My Broken Heart.” Check Jake Roche’s vocal – plaintive and powerful at the same time. And don’t miss the video. The guys find themselves in the middle of a scam that starts at the poker table. We hung with the band, shooting our exclusive profiles and interviews, and they’re just as entertaining as you would guess. We’re thrilled that they’re our latest LIFT artists.

VEVO’S LIFT program began in January of 2011 as a way of celebrating new talent. VEVO prides itself on introducing emerging artists to a broader audience, and each LIFT cycle spends an extended period of time painting a detailed portrait of its act so potential listeners will get a fuller immersion into the artist’s musical impact and cultural breadth. Through exclusive interviews, behind-the scenes footage, video premieres, and intimate live shows - all exclusive to the VEVO platform - we unite the artist and the audience.
