Biography
After three versions, "Take on Me" became a hit in the U.K., reaching number two in November 1985 and bringing Norwegian synth pop band a-ha mainstream popularity. Due to the exposure of its stunning video on MTV, the song went to number one in the U.S. The album Hunting High and Low subsequently reached the Top Ten. They went on to release several better-reviewed albums throughout the next two decades, including number ones in Germany and Norway, and developed a devout fan base. Thirty years after "Take on Me," they hit the Top Ten in several European countries with 2015's Cast in Steel, which was followed by an arena world tour. ~ Kelvin Hayes & Marcy Donelson
