A Place to Bury Strangers blends the My Bloody Valentine worship of the neo-shoegazers with an interest in the sludgy sound and extreme dynamics of the post-rock movement that began with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and includes contemporaries such as Paik, Mono, and Earth. The New York City trio consists of singer and guitarist Oliver Ackermann, bassist Jono Mofo, and drummer Jay Space. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2007. Ackermann is also the founder and head of a company that manufactures effects pedals and custom audio equipment for major bands.
