A$AP Nast (real name Tariq Devega) is an American rapper and hip-hop artist most prominently known as a member of the Harlem-based hip-hop group A$AP Mob.
He was raised in West Harlem, spending a lot of time with his cousin and future A$AP Mob member A$AP Rocky. He dropped out of school before graduation with the sole intent of pursuing a career in music, and was one of the first members to join A$AP Mob.
He originally went by the nickname "New York Nast," but he changed it to include the A$AP moniker along with the rest of the Mob members. Making his official debut on one of Rocky’s earliest tracks, "Uptown," Nast also appeared on a number of songs on Rocky's debut mixtape, Live.Love.A$AP. He was featured on the Mob’s collective debut mixtape Lords Never Worry, subsequently setting out on tour to promote the release with the rest of the group.
A$AP Mob next released "Trillmatic," which was originally supposed to have been the lead single for the Mob’s debut album (the album was eventually scrapped). However, the track was led by Nast, which met favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike. The young rapper took the lead on a number of singles with A$AP Mob, as well as guesting on English rapper Skepta’s track "Ladies Hit Squad" alongside D Double E. He also reappeared with the Mob on the single "Presidents" in 2016 before setting out on extensive solo tour of Europe later that year. ~ Rob Wacey
