Being at the right place at the right time sometimes means you're miles from your home, as it was for Brazilian singer/producer Alex Ferrari, who topped the charts in France with his 2012 hit "Bara Bará Bere Berê." Written and originally performed by Dorgival Dantas, the song was first recorded by Ferrari in 2011. Distributed online and then bootlegged on file-trading services, the Ferrari version was often misattributed to singer Michel Teló, a mistake made even more confusing as Teló had also recorded his own version, as had Leo Rodriguez, who was climbing the charts in the Netherlands with his version. Ferrari hit the studio again, and released a sertanejo-style version of the track in early 2012 on EMI France. The new mix dominated European clubs over the summer and topped the French charts in August of 2012. ~ David Jeffries
