Guitarist Randy Bachman and singer/guitarist Chad Allan were both former members of Canadian pop-rock band The Guess Who when they formed Brave Belt in the early 1970s with Bachman's brother Robbie on drums. Allan was replaced by singer/bassist C.F. Turner and yet another Bachman brother, Tim, on guitar, and the group eventually became Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Their self-titled '73 debut album did well, but the follow-up made them stars, birthing the hits "Let It Ride" and "Takin' Care of Business." B.T.O. was huge for a few years, but by the time Randy left in 1977 their popularity had waned. The band released two more albums without him before disbanding. In subsequent decades, the band reunited sporadically, with and without Randy Bachman.
