The brainchild of Montreal's Andrew Rodriguez, Bodega was formed in the mid- to late '90s. Originally a trio, the band was signed to London Records, which released the band's debut, Bring Yourself Up. Despite the label signing, both sides had a lengthy falling out, resulting in the album being underpromoted. After two-thirds of the band left to pursue other projects, Rodriguez recruited four new members. The band's 2001 sophomore album, Without a Plan was produced by David Fridmann, whose credits include Mogwai and Mercury Rev. ~ Jason MacNeil
