Hailing from Ireland, Boyzone was one of many dance-pop boy bands to appear in the wake of Take That's mid-'90s breakup, intending to claim the departed teen-pop sensation's audience as their own. Boyzone's membership consisted of primary vocalist Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, and Shane Lynch. Their 1995 debut album, Said and Done, was a huge hit throughout England, and the group's next successful releases were Different Beat in 1997 and Where We Belong in 1998. Boyzone announced their breakup in 2000, but re-formed in 2008, mounting a successful tour and releasing the Back Again...No Matter What compilation album. After Gately's sudden death in 2009, Boyzone continued as a four-piece and dedicated their 2010 release, Brother, to him. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine & Andrew Leahey
