The pseudonym of Danish singer/songwriter Majke Voss Romme, Copenhagen's Broken Twin specializes in a haunting and evocative blend of spare chamber pop and cinematic indie folk that invokes names like Anna Calvi, Antony & the Johnsons, Daughter, Fiona Apple, and fellow countrywoman Agnes Obel. Built around Romme's distinctive and soulful voice, Broken Twin's sonic architecture is comprised mainly of piano and strings. Her self-produced debut album, May, was mixed by Ian Caple (Kate Bush, Tindersticks) and Brian Batz, and issued via Anti Records in early 2014. ~ James Christopher Monger
