Louisville, Kentucky-based singer/songwriter Cheyenne Marie Mize crafts intelligent, atmospheric, soul-stirring indie folk music in the vein of Alela Diane, Bon Iver, and Cat Power. Raised in a musical household, she took up the violin in high school, studied music at the University of Louisville, and eventually became a music therapist. She has worked with Will Oldham (Bonnie "Prince" Billy), with whom she collaborated on an EP of folk songs from the late 1800s. Mize’s debut EP, Before Lately, arrived in October 2010. ~ James Christopher Monger
