Bobby Caldwell and Jack Splash are Cool Uncle, a collaboration that resulted in an unsurprisingly dapper brand of R&B. Caldwell is known most for "What You Won't Do for Love," a 1979 Top Ten pop hit, but his discography goes much deeper than that single. Producer Splash's work with Jennifer Hudson, Jazmine Sullivan, Melanie Fiona, and Cee Lo Green has led to Grammy Awards. He has also guided the free-spirited funk band PlantLife. In 2015, Caldwell and Splash debuted their partnership with "Break Away," featuring vocalist Jessie Ware, and "Breaking Up," featuring soul legend Deniece Williams and rapper Eric Biddines. The two easy-grooving songs, both rhythmically robust updates of sophisticated late-'70s/early-'80s R&B, led to a self-titled album. ~ Andy Kellman
