Rapper and singer Devvon Terrell counts Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and Ne-Yo among his inspirations, as reflected in his pop-oriented synthesis of hip-hop and contemporary R&B. The life-long Brooklyn native began to grow a fan base in the early 2010s through uploads of covers and remixes on social media platforms. After a handful of mixtapes and short-form releases such as The Living Weird_o (2014), Terrell made his proper full-length debut in 2015 with Weird Sexy Cool. Coast 2 Coast, a collaboration with Futuristic, was issued toward the end of that year and reached number 12 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Another independent solo release from Terrell, The Renaissance, arrived in 2016. ~ Andy Kellman
