West Coast rapper Dubble-OO debuted his sharp, nasally style on a series of collaborations with fellow Californian rappers like Philthy Rich and the Jacka. Dividing his time between San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, Dubble-OO teamed up with the Jacka on 2013's Futuristic Mob LP, then joined forces with Philthy Rich for 2014's MPR ("Money, Power, Respect"). That same year, Dubble-OO finished recording a solo effort, but his career was put on hold when the Jacka was murdered in Oakland, California in February 2015. The loss of his friend and mentor sent Dubble-OO into an extended period of mourning that delayed the release of Next Level, which would not be issued until 2016. Next Level included appearances by J. Stalin, Husalah, and Mikey Vegaz on a slickly produced album that also featured the memorial ode to the Jacka ("[MIP] Mob in Peace") and the single "Nas No Speed Limit." ~ Neil Z. Yeung
