Rapper Earl Sweatshirt is a member of the Odd Future crew. His languid style is a blend of highly personal alt-rap and morbid horrorcore. In 2010 he released his Earl mixtape before mysteriously going on hiatus later that year. It was subsequently revealed that he had been sent to a Samoan boarding school by his mother. He returned to L.A. and signed with Columbia. After live appearances and recordings with Odd Future, he made numerous guest appearances on releases from the likes of Frank Ocean and Flying Lotus. His album Doris arrived in 2013. ~ Gregory Heaney & James Wilkinson
