Biography
Madrid-born David Otero Martin, aka el Pescao, replaced original guitarist Iván Ganchegui in the hugely successful power pop outfit el Canto del Loco, which scored a number of chart-topping albums and singles -- including Martin's own "Despiertame" -- during the 2000s. Following in the footsteps of his cousin Dani, Martin was the second bandmember to pursue a solo career, releasing his debut solo album, Nada Lógico, as el Pescao (taken from one of the band's songs) in 2010. Written, performed, and produced almost entirely himself, the album, which featured several tracks discarded from previous el Canto del Loco sessions, showcased a more experimental side, flirting with electronica, indie pop, and folk, alongside collaborations with hotshot producer Carlos Jean, DJ Wally Lopez, and Brazilian vocalist Ana Cañas. ~ Jon O'Brien
