Born into a wealthy family, De André was known for his songs and lyrics offering sympathies to anarchists and marginalized people. During his 40 years, he released 13 albums. While on a live tour in Sardinia, De André and Dori Ghezzi were kidnapped by bandits and held for four months. He ended up finding solidarity with them via a certain understanding of their own situation and used the experience to write an album in 1981. His more well-known songs included "
