California-based trio Face To Face specialized in the same tuneful punk pop as their better-known countrymen Green Day and Blink-182. Shortly after their formation in 1991, the trio signed with the independent label Dr. Strange Records, which issued their debut, DON'T TURN AWAY, the following year. The band switched to Fat Wreck Chords, who re-released that first record prior to the completion of the follow-up, BIG CHOICE, in 1995. Opening slots on tours of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Offspring increased the media buzz around the band, and they reached the majors with A&M Records, who released 1996’s self-titled album, a record which, while ignored by radio, was favored by fans and critics. A return to the indie world (on Vagrant) brought the excellent IGNORANCE IS BLISS in 1999. The band quietly announced its split in 2003.
