Felix Da Housecat
A self-taught keyboardist, Felix da Housecat (aka Felix Stallings) recorded "Phantasy Girl," one of house music’s earliest cult smashes, at age 15. His Radikal Fear Records imprint featured DJ Sneak, Armando, and Mike Dunn and provided remixes for artists such as Diana Ross. After a lengthy break, Stallings returned in 1999 under his Thee Maddkatt Courtship moniker with I Know Electrikboy. Kittenz and Thee Glitz (2001) and Devin Dazzle & the Neon Fever (2005) tapped into '80s synth pop, leading to remix work for Madonna and Thom Yorke, while Virgo Blaktro & the Movie Disco (2007) drew from disco and funk. He Was King (2009) featured a heavy Dirty Mind/Controversy-era Prince influence. Stallings' next album, Son of Analogue (2011), was released with Mixmag's April 2011 issue. A series of electro-disco EPs, including Sinner Winner (2013), followed. The introspective Narrative of Thee Blast Illusion (2015) featured dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry. ~ Rovi Staff
