Perhaps the most important member of The Danzi family of musicians, from Germany but of Italian descent. Located in Karlsruhe, and having traveled to Munich, Mannhiem, Hamburg, Leipzig, Prague, Florence and Venice, Danzi was appointed the Kappellmeister in Stuttgart where he was able to develop his forte, music for the stage. Singspiels, masses, oratorios, comic operas, melodramas, songs, chamber pieces and occasional symphonic works comprised the literature composed by Danzi. Maintaining a friendship with Weber, he learned about the early dynamics of Romanticism but was highly influenced by the stylings of Mozart. At least three of Weber's operas made their premiere in Karlsruhe under the direction (and compositional guidance) of Danzi. ~ Keith Johnson
