Something Corporate singer Andrew McMahon’s training came initially on the piano, and with his side project Jack’s Mannequin, the instrument is front and center. The band grew out of introspective music that McMahon wrote that he didn’t feel fit in with Something Corporate, though he wasn’t sure what that meant at the time. He kept writing, however, and before long he had an album’s worth of music. The successful result, EVERYTHING IN TRANSIT, was released in 2005, but not before McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia. He underwent treatment and prevailed, and 2008 saw the release of THE GLASS PASSENGER.
