You could call Jan Lisiecki a true prodigy on the piano if he didn't dislike the label. Teachers recognized his talent and encouraged his parents to develop it. Lisiecki won a full scholarship to the Glenn Gould School of Music in Toronto. At 12, he made his debut at the "Chopin and His Europe Festival." Lisiecki signed to the Deutsche Grammophon label in 2010, at the age of 15. His recording debut in 2011 featured a pair of Mozart concertos, followed by an album of Chopin's etudes. Those and fortunate substitution gigs propelled him to high-profile appearances with major ensembles. Lisiecki made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2016, with a solid career already under his belt. ~ James Manheim
