With an ear for Brian Wilson-esque harmony, JR JR swirl indie pop, folk, and electronic elements into one breezy package. Based in Detroit, Michigan, the duo of Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott came together in 2009 as Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. The following year, they released their first two EPs, Horse Power and My Love Is Easy: Remixes, Pt. 1. After signing with Warner Bros., the duo's full-length debut, It's a Corporate Word, arrived in 2011, followed by the Patterns EP and long-player The Speed of Things, both in 2013. In 2015, to avoid ongoing confusion by seekers of the racecar driver, Epstein and Zott changed the band's name to JR JR. Their first LP under the shortened handle, JR JR was released that September. ~ Gregory Heaney
