With his cinematic sensibility, multiple skills, and groundbreaking network of contemporaries, Kid Koala quickly emerged as one of underground hip-hop’s most vital artists by the time his debut, CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME, was released in 2000 by Ninja Tune. The DJ/artist (Koala has created vast comic books to coincide with his releases) made his name playing shows and hashing out remixes with the likes of Coldcut and DJ Vadim. And before long, he was providing the scratches that helped give supergroup Deltron 3030 its aura, as well as touring with renowned genre-benders like Radiohead. A fourth official studio album, YOUR MOM’S FAVORITE DJ, was released in 2006, with Koala remaining active on the touring and collaborative circuit.
