R&B singer and songwriter Kirby Lauryen achieved prominence during the mid-2010s. Born in Tennessee and raised in Mississippi, she attended Berklee College of Music but opted to forgo her studies to kickstart her career in Atlanta. Unable to gain traction, she left for Memphis and continued to work on her storytelling-oriented writing. After she landed a Roc Nation publishing deal, she co-wrote songs for the likes of Kelly Rowland, Common, and Ariana Grande, and truly broke through as one of the co-writers of Kanye West and Paul McCartney's Top 40 pop hit "Only One" and Rihanna, West, and McCartney's Top Five "FourFiveSeconds." In 2016, Lauryen made her solo debut with the Southern-styled ballad "Loved by You." ~ Andy Kellman
