Japanese heavy metal band Loudness emerged in the 1980s with a series of well-received Japanese-language albums, including THE BIRTHDAY EVE (1981) and DISILLUSION (1984). The band signed a deal with the American label Atco, releasing the English-language THUNDER IN THE EAST in 1985, and gaining exposure with the single “Crazy Night” and a video that enjoyed rotation on MTV. Loudness attempted to capitalize on this success with subsequent English-language albums like LIGHTNING STRIKES, featuring a pop-metal approach. Line-up changes ensured for recordings made throughout the late ‘80s and ‘90s. In 2001 the original line-up of the band reunited to tour and record.
