Spanish-born singer/songwriter María Bestar started writing poems at the age of six. Years later, she began composing her first songs, inspired by classic rock and nueva trova artists. While working in a music store in Miami, FL, María Bestar decided to make a demo to pursue a contract with a major label. That opportunity came when Sony Music signed her up in 2000. Raúl Toledo and Lester Méndez produced her self-titled debut album, which was released in 2001 and featured her first hit, a song called "Pensando en Tí." ~ Drago Bonacich
