Scottish outfit Model Aeroplanes make infectious, guitar-based pop influenced by danceable '80s post-punk and sparkling Afro-beat rhythms. Formed in Dundee in 2012, the Model Aeroplanes comprise former high school friends lead singer, guitarist Rory Fleming-Stewart, guitarist Grant Irvine, bassist Ben Buist, and drummer Kieran Smith. By 2013, they had already grabbed attention with their single "Crazy," which racked up over 10,000 plays online prior to its release date. The feat helped earn the band a spot playing at the BBC Introducing Stage at Scotland's T in the Park. Several more well-received singles followed, including "Innocent Love" and "Electricity." ~ Matt Collar
