An English dream pop outfit founded in 2011 by college friends Kate Sproule and Stevie McMinn, Mt. Wolf's atmospheric blend of chamber pop, folk, electronic, and R&B has drawn comparisons to artists like James Blake, Bat For Lashes, Bon Iver, and Beach House. Rounded out by Bassi Fox (guitar, production) and Alex Mitchell (drums), the quartet issued their debut EP, Life Size Ghosts, in 2012, followed by a second EP, Hypolight, in 2013. The band's elegant and brooding pop confections found favor with both critics and the public, but the departure of co-founder and lead vocalist Sproule in 2014 rendered the band's future uncertain. Mt. Wolf returned in 2015 with a new EP, Red, which relied heavily on the distinctive croon of Bassi Fox, with newcomer Alexa Harley lending her considerable pipes to a song as well. The following year saw the newly minted trio issue their fourth EP of new music, Hex. ~ James Christopher Monger
