My Dying Bride
Formed in 1990, the U.K. goth/doom-metal act My Dying Bride is led by frontman Aaron Stainthorpe, who has taken the ensemble on a variety of stylistic detours, even altering his voice from a growl to a croon. Although Bride began with a strong death metal influence, it soon took on a more melodic approach, as best embodied on 1996’s The Angel & the Dark River. The group has endured many lineup changes, but Stainthorpe and mainstay guitarist Andrew Craighan have managed to maintain momentum well into the 21st century, as proven by 2006’s well-received A Line of Deathless Kings and 2015's Feel the Misery. ~ Eric Schneider
