Berlin-based singer/songwriter Nessi neatly incorporates country-tinged pop and atmospheric electronics into her delicate sound. She left her hometown of Hamburg at the age of 19 and headed to Berlin, where she began to write and create her music, inspired by the likes of the National, Matt Berninger, and Elliott Smith. Nessi's earlier work was strictly solo, and she relied on the strums of an acoustic guitar alongside her engaging vocals on a self-released EP, Escapism, in 2011, which displayed her raw talent and songwriting ability. She went on to tour these songs substantially before entering the studio to record her 2014 EP Twentythreeyears, which represented a decisive shift toward a fuller, pop-oriented direction, with the help of friends Andrew Tyler and Christian Wieland. Work then began on her debut full-length album, Rolling with the Punches, which was released in early 2015. ~ Scott Kerr
