The roots of male vocal group *NSYNC trace back to singers JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake, who co-starred together on the Disney Channel's The Mickey Mouse Club. Hooking up with a series of producers including Denniz Pop, the group, which had formed in 1996, recorded its self-titled debut LP; *NSYNC was an overnight success throughout much of Europe, with "I Want You Back" and "Tearing Up My Heart" becoming major hits. Accompanied by a tour of roller rinks, it became an American hit as well. Released in 2000, No Strings Attached sold close to two and a half million copies in its first week of release, and Celebrity appeared the following year. ~ Jason Ankeny
