Originally from Hawaii, Pepper is an alternative rock trio that brings together elements of dub, punk, ska, pop, and reggae. Bassist/singer Bret Bollinger, guitarist/singer Kaleo Wassman, and drummer Yesod Williams started playing together in 1996 on their home island of Kailua-Kona, but soon moved to Los Angeles, where they began gigging regularly. Inking a deal with L.A. independent Volcom Entertainment, Pepper released their debut, GIVE ‘N IT, in 2000, followed by 2002’s KONA TOWN. Pepper has shared stages with such acts as Burning Spear, Snoop Dogg, 311, and Slightly Stoopid. Two more albums, IN WITH THE OLD (2004) and NO SHAME (2006), kept the band’s hybrid evolving. A B-sides compilation, TO DA MAX, was issued in 2007.
