Beloved actress and singer Maria de los Angeles de las Heras Ortíz was born in 1944 and raised in Spain. She made her first stage appearance at the age of 15. The following year, she began working in film as Rocío Dúrcal, a name taken from a Spanish province. By 17, she was touring South America and the U.S., where she was invited to appear on Ed Sullivan's TV show. Four years and two albums later, she married singer Antonio Morales, known as Junior. After a three-year battle with cancer, Dúrcal died in her home in Madrid on March 25, 2006. ~ Drago Bonacich
