Swet Shop Boys
American-Indian rapper Heems and English-Pakistani MC Riz Ahmed joined forces to create the border-defying rap duo Swet Shop Boys. Heems (formerly half of Das Racist) and Riz (an accomplished actor who starred in TV and film) initially met via Twitter. Sometime after their online encounter, Riz landed a role in The Night Of and needed to research life as a South-Asian American living in New York. Naturally, Heems offered to show him around. During their time together in America, they managed to write and record a four-track EP titled Swet Shop; thus, their collaborative name was coined. Two years later they released their full-length debut, Cashmere. ~ Liam Martin
