Biography
The Crystal Method were once referred to as America's Chemical Brothers. A dance-based electronic duo with a rock band feel, the comparison seemed appropriate, although it erased what made them distinct: a solid base in hip-hop, rock, soul, and pop. After the Las Vegas natives became absorbed by Los Angeles' underground club culture, they knocked out tracks inspired by their experiences and developed a discography as varied as that of a legacy rock act. The duo's demand to be taken seriously extended to incessant touring and several commercially successful albums, including the Top 40 releases Tweekend (2001), Legion of Boom (2004), and Divided by Night (2009). By the mid-2010s, they were embracing their role in the development of EDM. ~ Sean Cooper
