British band White Eskimo have been playing their energetic mix of punk-influenced pop/rock since high school. The quartet attributed their sound to a wide range of genres, like heavy metal and hip-hop, but their rocking pogo-bounce spirit is purely infused by the melodies and chords of blink-182 and Green Day. In their initial incarnation, White Eskimo counted Harry Styles as the original frontman, with founding member Will Sweeny on drums. However, in 2012, after auditioning for The X Factor and moving on with One Direction, Styles was replaced by Sweeny. Alex Lewis was recruited to take his place at the kit, with Roy Bennett and Brad Nevinson brought on to handle guitar and bass, respectively. As the members of White Eskimo moved on to college, their exposure increased, consistently gigging in and around Manchester, even opening for Ash. Their debut EP, 100x, was released in March 2015. The four-song set featured Sweeny's gruff vocals, popping guitar work, and infectious rhythms. A year later, the band readied its next major release with the single "Game Time." ~ Neil Z. Yeung
